Can I search for attached files with Confluence search?

Yes, you can search for your files and folders names directly in the Confluence search bar. Pages that include attached items matching your search criteria will appear in the results.

This search works with Confluence search syntax, and it has some specificities.

For example, a page with an attached file with the name “abc.pdf” will not show up in the results if you search for “abc”. Confluence only accepts words separated by spaces as search terms. You can also pass a search wild card like: “abc*”, and then the page containing the attached “abc.pdf” file will show up.

Limitations:

• This only works with macros created since the introduction of this feature in October 2022.

• This feature is for Confluence Cloud only.
